Get to know our KDO Director!

Yavonne Butcher didn't come to early childhood education through a textbook. She came through 25 years of raising four children, designing their education, following their curiosity, and watching each one grow into someone entirely their own. One built a company and stepped away to volunteer for a year teaching second graders in Honduras. One created a community job placement program for adults with special needs. One landed a job with NASA analyzing data from the moon. One left a 10-year thriving sales career in CPG to homeschool her children.

God used those years to teach Yavonne something she couldn't have learned any other way: that children thrive when they're given the time and space to be curious, to explore, to create. When she joined the Scott Family Amazeum, everything she discovered about how kids learn best was confirmed. Keypoint KDO is what happens when that conviction gets a room, a team, and a Tuesday morning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we have to be churchgoers to join?
Not at all. Whether you're deeply rooted in faith or just faith-curious, your family is welcome here. We believe every child deserves this kind of intentional care, no membership required.
What makes this different from regular MDO?
Most MDO programs are excellent childcare, but they're not designed to connect with what your child hears on Sunday. Keypoint KDO takes the biblical principles from your weekend service and builds a full week around it through play, story, movement, and relationship. It's not a separate program — it's an extension of something already happening in your family.
What is the staff-to-child ratio?
We maintain a 6:1 ratio for 2 and 3-year-olds, and an 8:1 ratio for 4-year-olds. The state of Arkansas only requires 12:1 and 14:1, respectively. We chose to go well beyond that because we believe your child deserves to be known, not just supervised.
Does my child need to be toilet trained to enroll?
Yes, children must be fully toilet-trained before their first day. This helps every child feel confident in the classroom and lets our facilitators give their full attention to learning and play. If your child is still working on it, we'd love to stay in touch and welcome them when they're ready.
What will my child actually be learning?
Every week ties back to a biblical theme from that Sunday's teaching, woven into hands-on play, story, and movement. Nothing is random, your facilitator can always tell you what your child explored and why.
